Brandt warns against complacency
Borussia Dortmund’s summer arrival Julian Brandt says his side can’t afford to “sit back” going into the new Bundesliga campaign.
BVB have enjoyed an impressive pre-season and have already beaten fierce rivals Bayern Munich in the Super Cup, as well as claiming a DFB Pokal win over Uerdingen.
Dortmund begin the new season with a home game against Augsburg and Brandt says their strong pre-season form will count for nothing if they fail to take all three points next Saturday.
“Pre-season went well and I think we’ve made good use of the time too,” he told the club website. “But we can’t sit back and assume it’s all going to happen for us. Next weekend is what counts – and that’s what we’ll be judged on.”

Brandt joined BVB on a five-year deal from Bayer Leverkusen for a reported €25million at the start of the summer.
The Germany international has been injured over the summer but is now fit, although he may have to settle for a place on the bench against Augsburg after a limited pre-season.
