Yarmolenko takes aim at Dortmund
Former Borussia Dortmund star Andriy Yarmolenko has hit out at the club for the way he was treated before he moved on.
BVB swooped to sign the forward from Dynamo Kiev back in August 2017 after he was seen as the man to replace Ousmane Dembele, who had just left for Barcelona.
However, the move did not go according to plan and, following a bright start, things went downhill quickly and he ended up spending just one season at the club.
During that time, he struggled with injury and ended the season with only six goals and three assists as Dortmund finished fourth in the Bundesliga.
When Lucien Favre arrived it became clear he did not feature in the new coach’s plans, while the emergence of Jadon Sancho did not help his cause.
Yarmolenko was sold to English Premier League side West Ham United and things are starting to look up for him again.
However, he has looked back on his time with Dortmund and is not happy with the way he was treated even though there were some positives
“I’m not a girl who is offended,” Yarmolenko told Sport.ua. “But I did not like the way they parted with me. But there are also positive memories. I believe that Borussia is a great club and it should treat the players who play on the team with great respect. I did not like a lot of things in Dortmund.
“I had not expected that I would leave Dortmund so quickly. But now I am very happy that I moved to England. I’m happy at West Ham.”
