Race on for striker

Hannover 96

There are as many as six British clubs that have been linked with a move for 13-goal Bundesliga striker Niclas Fullkrug of Hannover.

Bild claim the 25-year-old forward, who was signed for 2.2m euros in 2016, could now fetch over four times that amount because of the widespread interest from Premier League and top-end Championship clubs.

Leicester City, Newcastle, Cardiff City, Fulham and Aston Villa are also said to hold an interest in Fullkrug.

Watford are on the lookout for a striker in the summer transfer window but seem to have missed out on Willem II hitman Fran Sol, who was unimpressed with the set-up after a visit to Vicarage Road recently.

Fullkrug scored his 13th Bundesliga goal of the season in Hannover’s 3-1 win over Hertha Berlin on Saturday and has previously bagged important goals against Schalke, RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen.
