Hannover have confirmed they have signed striker Bobby Wood on loan from from rivals Hamburg.

The USA international has made 50 appearances for Hamburg since he joined them in 2016 but they have allowed him to move on and Hannover have the option to buy him during the loan spell.

The 25-year-old started just 18 games last season but was unable to stop Hamburg from suffering their first ever relegation from the German top flight.

Despite struggling in recent years, Wood is confident he can produce the goods under boss Andre Breitenreiter.

He told the club’s official website: ‘I had very good conversations with the coach and I know what the club want to achieve, what kind of football they want to play and what my role can be.

‘This is the perfect move for me. Hannover played some exciting football last season and I’m confident my style fits with how the team plays.’
