Defender Kevin Wimmer is reportedly keen to turn his season-long loan at Hannover from Stoke City into a permanent deal.

The 25-year-old Austria international has impressed back in the Bundesliga this season having endured a disappointing time in the Premier League when he left FC Koln for Tottenham in summer 2015.

Wimmer moved to Stoke from Spurs in summer 2017 for a fee of around £18million but struggled with the Potters as they were relegated to the Championship at the end of last season.

He was allowed to move to Hannover on an initial loan deal and the early indications are that he has done enough to convince the club’s bosses to make the move full-time, possibly as early as the January transfer window.
