Heidel backs Embolo return

Schalke’s sporting director Christian Heidel has given Breel Embolo his backing after the forward underwent ankle surgery.

The 19-year-old was cut down by Augsburg defender Konstantinos Stafylidis during their 1-1 draw on Saturday and now looks set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Having sustained bone and ligament damage, the Switzerland international has now gone under the knife and will start his rehabilitation after a disastrous start to his time at Schalke.

Heidel is adamant Embolo will get all the support he needs after this major setback in the teenager’s career.

He was quoted by ABC News, saying: “We will give Breel every support so he can come back strongly from this serious injury and return to where he was before he was forced to stop.”
