Bayern tipped to make fresh Werner approach
Former Bayern Munich midfielder Michael Ballack believes the Bavarians will try to sign RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner next summer.
Werner has made a name for himself with Die Roten Bullen, scoring 66 goals from 118 appearances in all competitions since moving from VfB Stuttgart in 2016.
The 23-year-old has been capped 27 times by Germany after making his debut back in 2017 and has bagged 10 goals for Die Mannschaft.
He has been on fire this season, scoring five times from four Bundesliga outings, having signed a new contract with Julian Nagelsmann’s side in August.
Nagelsmann: "Individual quality can always be crucial, so it could be key for us if we have a Timo Werner in top form. He was very good in training and he will be a very important factor. He is able to really hurt Bayern." pic.twitter.com/TmubuJxabL

Bayern were among a number of clubs linked to the player during the summer transfer window, with Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool and La Liga duo Sevilla and Atletico Madrid also thought to be keen.
No move materialised but Ballack, who played 157 times for Bayern in a four-year spell, feels it is only a matter of time before the transfer happens.
“He has expressed his gratitude to Leipzig with his contract extension,” he told TZ. “But I think next year a switch to Bayern could be on again.”
It seems likely Bayern will try to lure the talented forward to the Allianz Arena although the youngster may have his head turned by clubs outside Germany.
Ballack himself played four years in the Premier League with London giants Chelsea and there is every reason to suggest one of the top English clubs might take a look at Werner at the end of the 2019-20 campaign.
