Ribery set for three weeks out

Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery has been ruled out of action for up to three weeks with a muscle problem picked up in training.

The 33-year-old has suffered more than most with injuries over the past couple of years and made only 28 appearances across the last two seasons.

The former France international has enjoyed five Bundesliga outings this term, but assistant coach Hermann Gerland confessed that the winger “definitely needs 14 days to three weeks before he can play again”.

The former Marseille man will miss Bayern’s Champions League game against PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday, and Bundesliga games against Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Monchengladbach, while it remains to be seen if he is back to face Augsburg on October 29.

Ribery has scored twice so far this campaign, with the Bavarians already top of the table as they go in search of yet another German title.
