Bayern ran out comfortable winners at the Allianz Arena but their cause was helped by the dismissal of visiting midfielder Sven Kums in the 11th minute.
The red card also led to a penalty for the Bavarians, duly converted by Robert Lewandowski, but they had to wait until the second half to add to their advantage with goals from Thiago Alcantara and Joshua Kimmich.
Dutch international Robben played the full 90 minutes of the match but was far from satisfied by his side's performance.
"Normally if you win a Champions League game 3-0 it's good," he told reporters. "But if you get a penalty after 10 minutes, lead 1-0 and have 11 [men] against 10, you have to be more aggressive and confident.
"You have to show the fans in the stadium a good football game and try to score more goals. That's what's missing."
Bayern have made an indifferent start to the season, losing to Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga last weekend, and they will be hoping to produce an improved display when they host Mainz on Saturday.
