Former Germany Under-21 international Lasogga joined the Bundesliga outfit in 2014 after a successful loan spell in the 2013/14 campaign and he was a regular in his first two permanent seasons, making 43 league starts.
However, the 25-year-old, who started his senior career at Bayer Leverkusen, slipped down the pecking order last term and he was shipped out on a year-long loan to Championship side Leeds United in the summer.
The striker has made a good impact in England's second-tier, scoring three goals from five league games, and there are reports claiming the Whites will look to make the deal permanent at the end of the season.
But, Leeds' hopes may have been dashed already after Todt suggested Lasogga could still have a future at the Volksparkstadion if he continues to put in good performances while on loan.
Speaking to Hamburger Morgenpost, he said: "If Pierre has a good season, he could also play a role with a lot of fresh self-confidence."
