Ginter has played a full part in proceedings this season as Dortmund sit in second place in the Bundesliga standings behind runaway leaders Bayern Munich.
The 21-year-old has been rewarded for his displays by winning seven caps for Germany since making his debut last year.
And Tuchel has been full of praise for the way in which the youngster has contributed to all aspects of the team's success and not just his primary role of stopping the opposition from scoring.
"There are few defenders out there who have a hand in as many goals as Ginter," the former Mainz boss said. "The right-back position is a complicated one. You are often more of a winger in home games.
"But we cannot only focus on the attacking part. It is all about the defensive aspects of the role."
