The 21-year-old was signed from Stuttgart for 10m euros in the summer of 2016 and has lit up the Bundesliga ever since.
The classy forward has netted 32 times from 49 appearances in all competitions while bagging 28 in the German top-flight.
Inevitably he has been linked with a switch away but, while confessing that Bayern would have been a welcome move 18 months ago, he is now content to ply his trade at the Red Bull Arena.
“Of course, I have to say that perhaps I would have moved to Bayern Munich if they had come calling before RB Leipzig,” he told Die Welt. “I would have felt honoured because Leipzig wasn’t an established side at the time.
“I think moving to Leipzig has worked out perfectly for me. I was able to fulfil my potential here and get playing time. I’ve definitely developed as a player. It was the best move for me.”
