Fitness the key - Hendrick

Burnley new boy Jeff Hendrick believes the fitness levels in the Clarets squad will help them be competitive in the Premier League.
Hendrick has just arrived from Derby County in a deal worth £10million, and he says he has not been surprised by the high intensity training sessions at Gawthorpe, aimed to make sure the players are in tip-top shape,
Clarets boss Sean Dyche has a reputation for working the players hard and Hendrick believes that will be crucial as they look to establish themselves in the Premier League.
Burnley may lack the quality of other Premier League teams, but Hendrick believes their fitness and work rate can help bridge the gap and give them the opportunity to be competitive week in, week out.
"Going to the Premier League you’re going to be playing against a lot of good teams like Manchester City and Manchester United who are going to be possession-based at times and you’re going to have to work hard and be good in possession because if not those teams have the players who can punish you,” Hendrick said.
“I think teams who are going up know they are probably not going to dominate possession.
“I think the last team to do that was Swansea. But not many other teams who go up do that. It’s going to be hard work and you’ve got to make sure you’re fit and ready for it.”
