Marney cools injury fears

Burnley midfielder Dean Marney has played down fears over his fitness and should be in line to face Stoke City this weekend.

The midfielder grabbed an unlikely goal in the 2-1 defeat against Manchester City but now faces a race against time to be fit for the trip to the Bet365 Stadium on Saturday after coming off just before the break.
Marney will be assessed over the coming days and Sean Dyche will not want to take any chances on him unless he is fully fit. However the player himself does not sound too concerned.
“It’s not too bad," he revealed. "I’ve had a bit of a nerve problem in the back or hamstring and sometimes it gets to a point where you just can’t continue.
"I was gutted but against a team like that if you’re not 100 per cent you’re going to get found out.”
