Rodgers - Celtic improving in Europe

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers believes his side's confidence in Europe has improved following some promising performances this season.

The Bhoys qualified for the group stages of the Champions League for the first time in three years this term, and they have produced some impressive results in a daunting group containing Barcelona, Manchester City and Borussia Monchengladbach.
The Glasgow giants have collected just two points from their opening five matches and are guaranteed to finish bottom of the standings but, despite their failure to progress, Rodgers believes his side have grown in confidence as the tournament has progressed.
"When you look and see where a lot of the players have come from, a lot of them haven't experienced this level so to make that jump, or that first game away, it can be very daunting," Rodgers said.
Celtic were beaten 7-0 away at Barcelona on Matchday One, but since that setback they have recorded draws against City and Gladbach, as well as running Barca close during the return fixture last time out, and Rodgers has been pleased by the way his side have adapted to top class European competition this season.
He added: "The players have responded and gained confidence. They performed very well in the Barcelona game, even though we lost.
"Borussia away was much better and a good marker for us going away and performing well with that composure and quality, and then of course there was the Manchester City game where we couldn't have played them at a worse time, where they were high on confidence and had won 10 straight games."
The Hoops, who are on course to win the Scottish Premiership for a sixth successive season, will play their final match in Europe this season when they take on City at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night and punters may choose to use their free bet to back Rodgers' men to end their European campaign on a high.
