Tierney earns Brown praise

Scott Brown believes Kieran Tierney is the ideal candidate to eventually take over the Celtic captaincy from him full-time.

The 20-year-old was named skipper for the first time in Tuesday's 5-0 League Cup win over Kilmarnock and impressed at centre-back, scoring a stunning long-range goal.

Regular captain Brown was suspended for the game and he believes Tierney should be in line to be a future Bhoys leader.

"He was born to be a captain," Brown said in Celtic's official matchday programme. "He’s a warrior. The fans love him and the lads love him as well. If anyone is going to take it off me, it would be a proud moment to give it to the wee man.

"He loves the club, he understands the club and he knows what it means to play for Celtic and to win matches and to lift those trophies.

"So you never know, one day, he could be captain of this club. He would love it and so would his family, so hopefully the wee man can stay here for a long time."
