Ranieri issues Vardy backing

Champions League

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri fully expects Jamie Vardy to come good ahead of their Champions League clash with FC Copenhagen.

Just three goals in 12 appearances for the Foxes this season is in stark contrast to the 11 he had at this stage last term.

No goals in his last seven matches has also hyped up the pressure on the 29-year-old to end this drought but Ranieri has urged the striker to go about his business in the way that served him so well in the Foxes’ Premier League title-winning campaign last season.

He said: “It’s important he stays calm, keeps his strength and he will score a goal.”

A win for Leicester at the King Power against Copenhagen on Tuesday night would maintain their 100 percent winning record in Group G and keep the club in pole position to reach the Champions League knockout stages.
