Reed joins Rovers on loan
Blackburn have completed the signing of Southampton midfielder Harrison Reed on a season-long loan deal.
The 23-year-old becomes Rovers sixth signing of the summer, following in the footsteps of the likes of Jack Rodwell and Adam Armstrong, while he is highly regarded at Southampton, as he has made 30 first-team appearances for the Premier League club since making his debut in 2013.
Reed also has experience of playing in the Championship, as he spent last season on loan at Norwich where he scored once in 43 appearances across all competitions.
The former England youth international will be hoping to enjoy similar game-time during his spell at Ewood Park and he admits it was an easy decision to join the club.
“I’m absolutely delighted,’ Reed told Blackburn’s website. ‘I was excited to come up here once I’d heard of the interest about a week ago.
‘I met the manager, looked around the training ground and we made the move happen. “Once I spoke to the manager and he told me the style of play and how he saw me playing in the team it was an easy decision to make.’
Reed could make his Blackburn debut in Tuesday’s Carabao Cup clash with Lincoln at Ewood Park, while his league bow could come at Bristol City five days later.
