Bruce revealed on Saturday he was interested in bringing Boyd to the KC Stadium, the Posh playmaker having made no secret of his desire to leave London Road.
The former Stevenage starlet was poised to join Nottingham Forest last month before he failed a medical and has since been linked with a loan move to Crystal Palace.
Hull have now entered the race for Boyd's signature, Bruce admitting he is desperate to improve the Tigers attacking options as they look to keep their hopes of promotion alive.
"We made an inquiry (about Boyd)," Bruce said. "That is all we did.
"He is someone who is out of contract in the summer and we inquired about him. We will see what the next 24 to 48 hours bring."
