Grujic heads for Anfield exit

Cardiff City

Liverpool have allowed midfielder Marko Grujic to join Championship promotion chasers Cardiff on loan for the rest of the season.

Serbia international Grujic has struggled to hold down a regular first-team place since joining Liverpool from Red Star Belgrade in 2016, as he has featured in just eight Premier League matches over the past 18 months, with his most recent appearance coming against Brighton at the start of December.

The 21-year-old will now get the chance to showcase his talents with Cardiff and he admits he is excited to help the Bluebirds as they bid to secure promotion back to the top-flight this season.

“This is a good opportunity for me, to play in a club that will be fighting until the end to get in to the Premier League,” the youngster said.

Grujic is also looking forward to playing under the stewardship of Cardiff boss Neil Warnock and he is hoping a successful six months in Wales will help showcase his talents to everyone at Anfield.

He added: “To work with a manager like Neil Warnock is something I’m looking forward to. I’ve heard good things about him and when he spoke to me he said some good things about me and that I had a chance to play as part of his squad.”
