Warnock slams fixture list

Cardiff City

Cardiff boss Neil Warnock has hit out at the EFL for putting his side in action just days after an international fixture.

The Bluebirds have enjoyed a strong campaign and are still well in the mix to win automatic promotion to the Premier League.

However, Warnock feels their promotion hopes could be affected by what he has called ‘ridiculous’ organisation from the EFL.

Cardiff are due to face relegation-threatened Burton Albion on the Friday following this month’s international break and Warnock claims it is unfair on his players.

‘I think we’re going to have to write to the Football League,’ he said. ‘No team going for promotion should play on a Friday coming back off the international break, it’s pathetic.

‘We’ve got lads playing on the Wednesday night and we’re playing Burton on the Friday night? It’s absolutely ridiculous.’
