Tom targets Rams promotion

Derby County

Derby's Tom Huddlestone says his main goal after returning to the club is gaining promotion.

The 30-year-old left the club as a teenager to move to Tottenham but has now re-joined the Rams on a two-year deal from Hull.

Fellow former Tiger Curtis Davies has also recently signed on at the iPro Stadium, with Gary Rowett looking to build a squad with plenty of experience as he aims to guide the East Midlands outfit to promotion from the Championship.

Huddlestone’s last game for the club was an unsuccessful play-off clash back in 2005 and the midfielder admits he is now aiming to make up for what he admits was a missed opportunity.

He told RamsTV: “I left here at a very young age, but even then, I always said that I would want to come back at some stage.

“Thankfully, I am in a position where I can still perform at a high level and it’s good to be back.

“My last game was against Preston in the play-off semi-finals. We lost and it was a disappointing way to finish, but I am back now to try and get the club back to the Premier League.”

Derby start their campaign on August 4 against Sunderland and punters may choose to use their free bet to back them to claim all three points at the Stadium of Light.
