The Terriers midfielder was taken to hospital after suffering the nasty-looking injury when he collided with team-mate Mark Hudson.
Hogg suffered the injury in the seventh minute and the game was held up for almost a quarter of an hour while he was placed in a neck brace before being carried off on a stretcher.
The 28-year-old was taken to hospital where he required two scans.
Huddersfield manager David Wagner confirmed the nature of Hogg's injury, saying in quotes on the club's Twitter account: "Jonathan Hogg has a neck injury. He could talk, but he has had one scan at the hospital and needs another."
