Williams watched by Hull City scout
Hull City are keeping tabs on Danny Williams’ first-team return as Nigel Adkins eyes a reunion with the Huddersfield midfielder.
The Tigers’ chief scout attended Town’s 2-0 Carabao Cup defeat at Stoke City last month when the 29-year-old US international made his first appearance for the club in over five months.
Williams had been sidelined with injury since March when he fractured his distal fibula in training for the Terriers, ruling him out for the remainder of the 2017/18 season.
But he completed 69 minutes of the match at bet365 Stadium and will look to push his fitness levels up in the coming months under the watchful eye of David Wagner’s staff.
Town’s elimination from the Carabao Cup means there won’t be many chances to give Williams a first-team run-out again other than in crucial Premier League fixtures and he could become a loan target for Championship clubs in January.
Hull City boss Adkins signed Williams for Reading in 2013 and he became a key player for the Royals under the ex-Southampton and Scunthorpe boss.
