Wagner praises ‘100 per cent’ Terriers backing
David Wagner claims he feels safe in his role as Huddersfield Town boss despite the disappointing start to the Premier League season.
The 46-year-old German tactician has enjoyed an impressive three years at the John Smith’s Stadium having guided the club to the Premier League via the play-offs in May 2017 and then successfully keeping them in the top flight last season.
Wagner has been heavily linked with moves back to his homeland with a host of Bundesliga clubs thought to be keen on acquiring his services.
He has always maintained his commitment to Town, while insisting that he always feels that the club’s hierarchy is firmly behind him despite a disappointing start to the 2018-19 campaign.
Wagner told the Examiner: ‘I feel 100 per cent the necessary backing. For outsiders who do not see our games and only look at the table, it looks more difficult than it feels for me.
‘I’ve been able to do my job for many years without regard to table positions.
‘In the phase in which we rose and were always at the top of the table, I have always said that we have to free ourselves from any table positions.’
