Cowley keen to see Terriers’ hard work pay off against Blues

Huddersfield Town

Danny Cowley has challenged his Huddersfield players to make sure their warm-weather training does not go to waste when they face Birmingham on Saturday.

The Terriers have turned their season around since Cowley’s arrival from Lincoln. Despite losing his first couple of games in charge, the boss then oversaw a seven-match unbeaten run.

Huddersfield’s streak ended just before the international break with a 2-0 defeat at Preston and the club has used the time off to send their players off to Dubai for a warm-weather training camp.

While a good opportunity for the players not called up by their internationals sides to recharge their batteries, Cowley has also been working hard with his players.

The 41-year-old was clearly pleased with what he saw and the signs appear to be good ahead of Saturday’s game against the Blues.

Birmingham sit 13th in the table, six points and as many places ahead of their hosts at the John Smith’s Stadium.

A victory will boost their play-off hopes but the home boss is desperate to ensure they get nothing from their trip to West Yorkshire, imploring his players to put on a show in front of their own fans.

“We had a good week in Dubai and now we need to make sure that we get value for the hard work we had out there,” he told the club website.

“We always love playing at home in front of our supporters, so we are looking forward to getting back to the John Smith’s Stadium come Saturday and giving our very best against a good Birmingham team.”
