Nketiah doubt for Luton clash

Leeds United

Leeds United striker Eddie Nketiah is believed to be a doubt for Saturday’s return to Championship action against Luton Town.

The Whites were hoping the striker, on loan from Premier League outfit Arsenal, would have recovered from his abdominal injury over the international break.

Nketiah was forced to miss two matches before the break, with Leeds picking up wins against Queens Park Rangers and Blackburn Rovers.

The injury for the 20-year-old leaves Leeds light in terms of attacking options ahead of the trip to Kenilworth Road this weekend.

Patrick Bamford, who ended his goalscoring drought with a penalty in the win against Blackburn, continues to be Marcelo Bielsa’s first-choice forward at Elland Road.

Leeds had no recognised striker on bench against Rovers, with Wales international Tyler Roberts potentially having to move position if something were to happen to Bamford.

The 18-year-old striker Ryan Edmondson continues to impress in the Under-23s for Leeds and was once again on the scoresheet for the side against Barnsley on Monday afternoon.

Edmondson could be given an opportunity on the bench against the Hatters this weekend if Nketiah does not prove his fitness in time.

Leeds find themselves in third place in the Championship table, with two points between themselves and the current frontrunners West Brom.

The Whites are on a run of five games unbeaten, with their last defeat coming at Millwall at the start of October.
