The Canaries number one has again been drafted into Three Lions coach Roy Hodgson’s plans for the international friendly against Sweden in Stockholm.
Ruddy is hoping to win his second international cap and there have been suggestions that these games play havoc with Premier League managers, who are trying to prepare their respective squads for this weekend’s action.
But Ruddy is in the privileged position of having his club goalkeeper coach with him on international duty because Dave Watson is also in Hodgson’s backroom team. Therefore, he is in the perfect company for the Sweden match and also Norwich’s return to Premier League action when United visit Carrow Road on Saturday evening.
Ruddy told the Evening News: “To be able to work with a coach like that, who demands so much of himself and of his goalkeepers, is fantastic for me, Bunny (Mark Bunn), Dec (Rudd), Jed (Steer) and all the goalkeepers at the club. We really enjoy it, coming into training every day.
“You know you’re going to get a good session and you know you are going to feel like you have worked, and he is with England now so it means my day-to-day planning if I go away doesn’t change at all.
“It’s still the same stuff and it’s gearing up for a match day. That’s the vital thing – and it’s brilliant for me. It’s going to be a tough week of course but that’s where you want to be, at the top level and doing this sort of stuff.
“And if I can go away and get some game time for England and then come back and we put in another good performance against Manchester United in the Premier League, then I would of course be absolutely delighted with that.”
Michy Batshuayi's cheeky backheel was enough to give Borussia Dortmund a 1-0 win over Hannover 96 at Signal Iduna Park on Sunday, lifting them within a point of second-placed Schalke.
Eintracht Frankfurt boss Niko Kovac felt his side could have scored more goals following their 3-0 defeat of Mainz on Saturday.
West Brom manager Alan Pardew refused to fault his players' efforts after a heartbreaking 2-1 loss to Bournemouth that dashed their already slim survival odds.
