Warnock won’t abandon Dyer

Queens Park Rangers

Neil Warnock has suggested he will give Kieron Dyer until the end of the season to prove he has a future at QPR.

The luckless midfielder has been told he will not play again in 2011 because of a foot injury he picked up just three minutes into his R’s debut on the opening day of the season.

The injury-plagued 33-year-old was originally told he would only be out for four weeks but is now facing the prospect of at least three months on the sidelines.

Warnock has said the club will honour Dyer’s 12-month contract and is optimistic his free signing will return to competitive football in the New Year.

He said: “There has been talk that we would think of finding Kieron another club at Christmas bearing in mind we have signed a number of new players.

“But I’d like to keep him until the end of the season. He deserves that at least.”
