Season over for Leeds star

Leeds United defender Luke Ayling has confirmed he will miss the rest of the season following ankle surgery.

Ayling sustained the injury in the 0-0 draw with Nottingham Forest on New Year’s Day and the 26-year-old has now announced via Twitter that his season is over.

He tweeted: “Not what any of us wanted… ankle wasn’t as good as we all first thought… now time to rest, recover and hopefully get back sooner then [sic] they think.. thank you all for your messages means a lot.”

Leeds may opt to bring in a new full-back during the January transfer window to replace Ayling, who put pen-to-paper on a new five-year deal with the club last summer.
