New Owls head coach Jos Luhukay will utilise his contacts in the Netherlands to strengthen his side’s bid to make a late run for the Championship play-offs.
Pelupessy is set to be confirmed as a Wednesday player shortly with the Heracles Almelo captain having been scheduled to undergo a medical on Wednesday evening.
The 24-year-old, who is due to be out of contract next summer, was linked with a move to MLS franchise New York City FC last week.
Pelupessy will give Luhukay another option in midfield, where the Owls are looking a little short on options because of injuries to Sam Hutchinson, Kieran Lee and Barry Bannan.
According to Dutch reports, the Owls and Birmingham City have also contacted the agent of left-back Nelom.
The Rotterdam club are to allow Nelom a departure on reasonable terms, as he is due to fall out of contract at the end of the season.
England manager Gareth Southgate has claimed that the country needs to boot racism out of its own football before criticising World Cup hosts Russia.
Newcastle have been linked with a shock move for former Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet during the summer.
