Tykes take teenage striker on trial

Barnsley have taken teenage striker Ola Williams on a three-week trial from the academy of National League outfit Bromley.

The Hayes Lane club have granted permission for the youngster to train and play with the Tykes' Under-18s and development squad during the extended trial period.

Bromley academy Director Mark Hammond said: “It’s an amazing opportunity for Ola, it’s great to see that our club and academy are being recognised within the professional game.

“It is important to develop our own homegrown talent but nevertheless it is great to see our players, like Ola, be given an opportunity to progress further within the wider game.”

Williams recently scored in Bromley's 2-0 FA Youth Cup first-round win over Chipstead, but could now miss their second-round tie.
