Brunt out to impress

West Bromwich
West Brom are hopeful that both Chris Brunt and Harvey Barnes will be fit for the Baggies' trip to Ipswich which follows the international break.

West Bromwich Albion midfielder Chris Brunt says he and his team-mates have a chance to impress in Tuesday’s clash with Millwall.

The Baggies will welcome their fellow Championship club to The Hawthorns for a Carabao Cup clash and boss Slaven Bilic is set to experiment with his team.

Bilic’s men have remained unbeaten during the first two games of the season and they will come up against the Lions for the second time in four days.

The two sides played out a 1-1 draw in the Midlands on Saturday but Bilic is ready to give his four deadline day signings a run out.

He has named the same starting XI for the first two league games of the season, but Brunt has urged Tuesday’s squad to take their chance, with new striker Charlie Austin set to feature.

The 34-year-old told the Express and Star: “This game gives a chance for the manager to take a good look at a few of the players that haven’t played yet.

“Obviously we’ve got a decent squad of players now, and only 14 can be involved in a league game so it’s important for the lads that aren’t involved that we do have the opportunity to play competitive games and staying in the cup is a big part of that.”
