Wheater wants fans to play part

Bolton defender David Wheater has urged the club's fans to roar them to a badly needed win over Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

The Trotters are bottom of the Championship and in desperate need of three points ahead of the Owls’ visit to the Macron Stadium.

Wheater says he’s been impressed with the backing from the stands so far this term, despite the dismal start, and hopes they are noisy again this weekend.

He said on the club’s website: “Our fans have shown us great support this season and we as players owe it to them to put in a performance to try and get a result.

“There is going to be a big crowd on Saturday and we want to make sure that all the Bolton fans go home happy.”
