Blues to miss top target

Chelsea remain in the hunt to sign Tottenham defender Danny Rose but look like missing out to Manchester United.

Rose has yet to play this season as he continues to recover from serious injury but reports are rife suggesting the left-back could be heading for the exit door when the January transfer window opens.

The England international caused a storm earlier in the summer when criticising the club’s transfer policy and wage structure, but immediately received the backing of Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino who insisted the player remained in his plans.

However, during the same interview, Rose did say he would like to return north one day and is sure to jump at the chance of a move to Manchseter United if the Reds make a move to sign him.

It also means that Rose is likely to turn his back on a switch to Chelsea to get his wish of a move back north, news which is sure to disappoint Blues boss Antonio Conte.

Conte wants a new left-back and it would appear Rose is high on his list of targets but, not for the first time, he looks set to miss out.
