Chelsea boosted in striker hunt

Antonio Conte's hopes of signing striker Patrick Schick from Sampdoria in the summer have been handed a boost.

Antonio Romei, Sampdoria's president, has denied that a deal is in place for Inter Milan to sign the striker in the summer, opening the door for Chelsea to make a move.

The Nerazzurri were widely reported to have an agreement with Sampdoria over the signing of the Czech star with a 25million euro fee agreed but Romeri says those reports are incorrect.

“Of course I met [Inter sporting director] Ausilio in Rome, then again I speak and meet with many other directors,” he told Il Secolo XIX.

“And anyway, are you so sure that Inter are clearer on their summer transfers than anyone else?

“It’s true that many teams like our players, and Inter themselves are in there, but to say that he [Schick] has already been sold is wrong”.

As well as Chelsea, Juventus and Borrusia Dortmund are also said to be keen on the player who has found the back of the net seven times this season despite only starting five matches for the side.
