The 21-year-old midfielder is expected to leave the Amsterdam Arena at the end of the season and the race for his signature is set to hot up with Chelsea and Arsenal now in the hunt.
Chelsea see Eriksen as the perfect long-term replacement for Frank Lampard who looks certain to leave Stamford Bridge when his contract expires in July and they have the funds to lure the player to west London.
However, Arsene Wenger is also keen on a new midfielder and will hope his relationship with Ajax director of football and former Gunners star, Marc Overmars, could swing things in their favour.
Overmars has already confirmed that Liverpool are keen while there is also interest from Tottenham in the talented Denmark international.
