Veteran striker Drogba is in the final year of his Chelsea contract and it remains to be seen whether or not he will agree new terms at Stamford Bridge, with reports suggesting the 33-year-old is ready to call time on his Blues career after eight years in west London.
It has now been reported that Chelsea will turn to in-form Real striker Higuain to replace Drogba.
Higuain has scored 14 goals in 19 appearances this season and Real are unlikely to allow the 23-year-old to depart without a fight.
However, the Spanish giants are expected to seal moves for Brazilian star Neymar and Lille's Belgian forward Eden Hazard, who have both been linked with Chelsea in the past, and Real could be tempted to cash in on Higuain.
A fee in the region of £30million has been suggested and it will certainly take a sizeable offer to convince Real to part with Higuain, who has been one of the stars of their campaign so far this season.
