The 48-year-old Italian was not planning for Matic’s departure this summer following Chelsea’s Premier League triumph last year.
Conte brought in young Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko to the club for £40million but initially planned to bed him into the Premier League slowly behind the established Serb.
However, Matic’s departure means that Bakayoko will have to be thrust straight into action against Burnley on Saturday, something which has been met with displeasure from the manager.
“Bakayoko is a good signing for us. He is very young. My idea was to give Bakayoko the right time to adapt in this league behind Matic. But now after the sale of Matic, we need to try to accelerate this process for Bakayoko after his injury.”
Conte has lost some of his squad players this summer including Nathan Ake and Kurt Zouma and is looking for more arrivals.
