Hamburg swoop for Blues defender

Michael Mancienne is on the verge of completing a €3million move to German side Hamburg after deciding to leave Chelsea.

The 23-year-old has spent the last three seasons on loan at Wolves but has often stated he would like to try to force his way into the Blues first team at some point in the future.

Having not been given the opportunity to showcase his talents in the first eleven Mancienne looks set to take the opportunity to move on, with Hamburg looking for a new centre half after a poor season defensively.

The former England under-21 international is reportedly ready to fly in to Hamburg on Tuesday for a medical and will pen a four-year contract if all goes well.

Mancienna is expected to be the first of a number of Chelsea youngsters who will leave the club this summer after failing to make the grade at Stamford Bridge.
