Speculation over the future of Mourinho has been raging for months but speaking after Real Madrid crashed out of the Champions League at the semi-final stage last night, the Portuguese admitted he could be on the move.
Speaking after the 4-3 aggregate defeat to Borussia Dortmund, Mourinho revealed he does not feel wanted in Madrid and could return to England where he is 'loved', especially by one club in particular, Chelsea.
When quizzed about whether he will stay in Madrid, Mourinho replied: "Maybe not. I don't know but I want to be where people love me to be."
Manchester City have also been heavily linked with a move for Mourinho should Roberto Mancini leave, but a return to Stamford Bridge would be his preferred option if he got the chance.
"I know in England I'm loved," he added. "I'm loved by the fans, I'm loved by the media that treats me in a fair way, criticising me but giving me credit when I deserve it.
"I know I'm loved by some clubs, especially one, and in Spain, the situation is a bit different because some people hate me. Many of you are in this room."
Mourinho added he will sit down with president Florentino Perez at the end of the season to discuss his next move but for now is concentrating on seeing the season out, which will include the Copa del Rey final against Atletico Madrid next month.
