New boy set to start

Ricardo Quaresma is in line to make his Chelsea debut against Hull but Ricardo Carvalho is struggling with a hamstring injury.

Portugal winger Quaresma is ready to make his first start for the Blues since arriving on loan from Inter Milan and his fellow countryman Carvalho is confident he will take the Premiership by storm.

"Quaresma is a very fast and explosive player who is a real warrior on the pitch, so he will be able to handle the physical nature of the Premier League," said Carvalho.

"But at the same time he is a very technical player and can score goals, which will be good for us. He will be a huge help to us at this time of the season."

Meanwhile, Carvalho himself is a doubt for the clash against the Tigers as he struggles to shake off a hamstring problem, while Michael Essien and Joe Cole are out with long-term knee problems.
