Pedro misses out for Chelsea

Chelsea will be without Pedro, Eden Hazard and new signing Tiemoue Bakayoko when they begin their title defence against Burnley.

The Blues face the Clarets at Stamford Bridge in the opening round of fixtures but boss Antonio Conte has a number of selection issues.

Pedro sustained an ankle knock in the Community Shield loss to Arsenal and Hazard and Bakayoko are also injured.

Victor Moses is banned and Conte has revealed that could see summer arrival Antonio Rudiger make a debut, with the former Roma man lining up on the right side of a three-man defence and Cesar Azpilicueta taking up the right wing-back role usually occupied by Moses.

"He's a good player and [has] a good personality and technique," he told reporters on Friday.

Record signing Alvaro Morata and fellow striker Michy Batshuayi could also start with both Hazard and Pedro missing, while Diego Costa won't be involved as the club attempt to offload the forward before the transfer window closes.
