Roman Abramovich is stepping up his search for Andre Villas-Boas' successor and Mourinho in the man the Russian would most like to get back on board at Stamford Bridge.
There would be few complaints from the players and fans as well but Terry says everyone is backing caretaker boss Roberto Di Matteo at the moment as they push for a Champions League place and FA Cup Glory.
"It's all speculation at the moment, obviously he (Mourinho) was a fantastic manager and a very good man-manager as well," Terry told skysportsnews.
"But Robbie (Di Matteo) has come in and brought Eddie Newton in as well and they're doing a great job, and the target really is to focus on the next two months and to get the club in the position we all want to be in which is (qualifying for the) Champions League next year."
Chelsea made it back-to-back wins against Stoke at the weekend he could boost his chances of getting the job on a permanent basis with a strong finish to the season.
