New Everton boss Sam Allardyce is said to be plotting a January move for the defender who he took to Sunderland before buying him for Palace.
At the time of his move to Selhurst Park, the Dutch defender made it clear that Allardyce was one of the main reasons why he went, saying: “I spoke to the manager a couple of times and he was really interested in signing me. It made my choice easy.”
The Eagles may be willing to offload the six-cap Netherlands international who only made the switch to south London from Sunderland earlier this year in a £9m deal.
Allardyce will be looking to stamp his own mark on the Everton side as he looks to steer them to calmer waters in the Premier League, and he will be given money to spend in the new year.
Everton are not alone in being linked as runaway leaders Manchester City are also ready to make a £12m offer, according to reports.
