Parish - We looked at Liverpool plans

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish says the club will follow Liverpool's path as they prepare to upgrade Selhurst Park.

Liverpool recently replaced their Main Stand at Anfield after building behind and over the old structure.

Palace are now using the same construction group and plan to follow suit as they try to push the club onto the next level.

The club unveiled plans earlier this week and work is set to begin at the end of 2018, if the plans are approved.

When asked about the new project, Parish admits the Liverpool plans impressed him.

He told the Croydon Advertiser: "I think Anfield was a smart project. Why would you want to rebuild seats you've already got? You're not going to get any more money for them.

"To just build new seats is more sustainable and you're using less materials than building a new stadium, and you're not trying to generate new income from things you're knocking down and building again, which is very difficult.

"So I think it's a smart development. It won't be as big as the one at Anfield as there's is bigger, but it's an exciting one for us and we're happy to learn from anybody."
