Davies back in the running

Derby striker Steven Davies is expected to recover from illness in time for the trip to Bristol City.

Davies was forced off little over half-an-hour into the 3-2 home win against Crystal Palace last Saturday after feeling dizzy and sick.

With Callum Ball now joining Jamie Ward on the sidelines, Nathan Tyson would most likely be recalled to lead the line at Ashton Gate should Davies not make it. That could see teenager Mason Bennett back in the first-team squad, probably as a substitute.

Ball faces a short stint out after injuring an ankle while playing for the reserves this week.

Ward has missed the last seven matches with the thigh injury he sustained while on international duty with Northern Ireland.

Defenders Shaun Barker, John Brayford and Mark O'Brien and forward Conor Doyle are all sidelined through injury.
