Moore wants players to get back to basics

Tranmere boss Ronnie Moore has admitted that he has had words with a number of his players following their recent poor form.

Rovers previously led League One but have struggled in the last few weeks and, following defeats to Carlisle and Leyton Orient, they now sit third.

Moore feels some of his players have started to believe their own hype and has now urged them to concentrate on doing the simple things well.

"Our football has been fantastic this season. But we're overplaying a little bit at times now," he said. "I think one or two think they're better than they are. We've got one or two Bobby Moores now that we never had at the start of the season.

"People are getting on the ball, trying to dip their shoulder, defenders aren't doing the right things in the right areas. So we've had a little word in their ear."
