Defender Anthony Stewart's late strike was enough for the Wanderers, as they moved on to 48 points, 12 clear of the dropzone.
Ainsworth took over the side in September, following the dismissal of Gary Waddock and since then the 39-year-old has guided them up the table.
The Wycombe boss believes the win means they are now clear of any trouble and is now looking to finish as high as possible.
"We're just happy to get back-to-back wins," said Ainsworth. "I'm really pleased and I think personally 48 or 49 points could get you relegated still this season but that's taken the pressure off.
"We're looking up as well and it's probably time to look up the table and see what we can do."
