Ten Hag satisfied with draw

Coach Erik ten Hag has warned potential suitors that he is 'not thinking of leaving' Ajax this summer.

Ajax boss Erik ten Hag was satisfied after his side claimed a 2-2 draw at PAOK in the first-leg of their Champions League third qualifying round tie.

Ajax boss Erik ten Hag was satisfied after his side claimed a 2-2 draw at PAOK in the first-leg of their Champions League third qualifying round tie.

Last season’s semi-finalists took the lead at the Toumba Stadium thanks to a strike from Hakim Ziyech after just 10 minutes, but they went into the half-time break trailing 2-1.

Klass Jan Huntelaar got the Eredivisie champions back on level terms after the restart and ten Hag was happy enough to emerge from Greece with a share of the spoils ahead of next week’s second-leg at the Johan Cruyff Arena.

“That we do not win the competition is a damper,” ten Hag told Ziggo Sport. “But the result is fine, because this is the champion of Greece.

“But we are not there yet, we will have to improve to finish it in Amsterdam. A number of things may not happen to us, like that phase in the first half. There must be a self-regulating capacity in the team.”

The winner of next week’s second-leg will set up a playoff showdown with either APOEL or Qarabag later this month.
